For that reason, I think I might be your wedding photographer. Hiring a photographer is about finding someone who sees the two of you, who sees your story, the way you live it. Finding that photographer is one of the most important decisions you'll make... well, besides choosing your First-Last-Kiss-Partner and I'm just assuming you've nailed that one down.
I want you to trust me wholeheartedly, to be just as excited about telling your love story as I am to capture it. Together, we’ll create something beautiful, authentic, and completely you.
I am NOT the photographer for everyone, and I like it that way.

I am MOMENT-DRIVEN, seeking out all the things that make it your day. I am not EVERY-MOMENT-DRIVEN. I don't want to snap the shutter without cause, just handing over a wedding gallery as if it's a children's flip-book. No. I want the images to mean something. I'd rather give you 100 moments that make the hair on your arms stand straight up rather than 1000 mundane moments.
Storytelling is more than pushing a shutter, but creating ART that transcends a single space and time. Good storytelling throws you back up on that rollercoaster so you can experience all the excitement again and again. It allows you to relive your memories through my photographs. Wow! Just typing that reminds me exactly how fortunate I am to get to do this "job"!
My philosophy craves wedding stories where my clients believe that authenticity and emotions are some of the most sacred things in the world. They embrace the chaos and laugh at imperfection-- because perfection is boring. Let's tell your story.

I feel into photography thirteen years ago when I bought a "nice camera" to take better photographs of my son. What began as a small side hustle photographing families, turned into a full-time birth photography business a few years later. Yes, you read that right... BIRTH.
What drew me to birth, specifically, was the photojournalistic-style. There was no telling a laboring mama where to look or how to sway her hips... the story unfolded exactly as it was mean to and I, as the historian, was able to melt into it all alongside her.
I fell in love with storytelling AND the stress of nailing the shot within complex and often challenging scenes. I was documenting one of the most important days of a couple's life often at 2:00 am lit only by a single candle. I was trusted to document can't-miss-moments in some of the most difficult spaces and lighting set-ups... and I loved every second of it.
With the birth of my own third child ten years ago, I was just unable to be on-call and juggle the demanding, unexpected schedule birth photography required. So, I did the only logical thing--- I pivoted to the other (and first) most important day of a couple's life, THE WEDDING.
The most important thing to me was to not lose my love of photojournalism, the thing that drew me and kept me passionate about the art of photography! Just like I melted into the story of birth, I want to approach every wedding the same way. The wedding day is not the beginning of the story, but the culmination of weeks, months, and years of history between a couple. It's the celebration of both what has been, and what will be. I have the great honor of being a HISTORIAN, giving each couple a visual representation of all that is beautiful in their story.

Megan Arndt is a fine art photographer based just outside of Chicago, Illinois, where she lives with her husband and 4 boys. When she’s not chasing her family around taking pictures of their lives, she enjoys exploring the world around her through traveling, cooking, and photography. Can we print ourselves?
You will receive a print release so you can print wherever you deem best. If you do not currently have a pro lab, you have the option of purchasing prints through your online digital gallery.
HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR STYLE?

WHAT GEAR DO YOU USE?
I dual shoot with two Canon R6s with various Canon lenses: 16-35mm, 24mm tilt-shift, 35mm, 45mm tilt-shift, 50mm, 85mm, and 135mm. I also use a mixture of Godox flashes, Aputure continuous lights, and the occasional use of a Westcott Ice light.
CAN I HAVE IMAGES IN BOTH COLOR AND BLACK & WHITE?
During the editing process I will choose either color or black and white for each image based on my professional knowledge of what works best.
WHO ARE YOUR SECOND SHOOTERS?
I cannot give you the second shooters name ahead of time since I work with a few different photographers and only confirm their availability about 1 month before your wedding day. Just trust me that someone I think is pretty stellar with be there.
Should i book a second shooter?
A second shooter allows me to be in two places at the same time which, in return, allows me to deliver more images for a well-rounded story. I require a second shooter for most South Asian wedding ceremony events, and highly encourage one for any event with 250+ guests.
WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU DIE?
Well, I mean, usually people package it like, "What if you can't make it to the wedding?" But let's be real... if I'm not there, it's more than a migraine. So what happens? Well, my friends would 100% rally around my family, that's for sure. Some of my closest friends (also amazing photographers) have created back-up plans for each other. They have access to my studio management software, know what I still need to accomplish, what is coming up and what needs to be delivered. If something happens and I cannot make it to your wedding, they will be the first to know and have all they need to contact an equally amazing photographer who meets or exceeds my standards to photograph your wedding. Your contract states that my business is responsible for finding you someone FIRST. If that cannot happen and you do not approve of the replacement photographer, you are also able to get a full refund and seek out your own photographer.
Ok, can we move onto something way more fun to talk about?
DO YOU USE FLASH?
Yes, at the reception I will use both off-camera flash lighting and video lights for toasts and dances-- unless your reception events take place before sunset.
Off-camera lighting gives me control and assurance your important moments will be beautifully lit!
I AM NOT PHOTOGENIC.
I have seen it said that "authentic is the new photogenic" and I love that! Listen, if you are wanting me to turn you into some covergirl model, I may not be the right photographer for you. Now, I hope you feel extra beautiful and my images help you to see your beauty, but I will NOT make you into someone you're not. Ever. I want you to be the truest you: your quirks, crooked smile, that silly laugh you get when your husband looks at you. My goal is to create authentically beautiful images. You know, just don't worry about how you look at all. Let me figure it out and just know that your comfort is my #1 goal, too.
HAVE YOU SHOT AT MY VENUE BEFORE?
I get this question from concerned couples who are afraid I will not know how to handle their venue and it's limitations. Every venue has limitations, for sure, but it is actually not necessary for me to know them beforehand. The only thing I will need to know is when the sun is setting, something that doesn't change regardless of your venue.
I also have found that I work best on-the-fly as it forces me to think on my feet and create images I have never seen or done before.
CAN YOU RECOMMEND SOME OTHER VENDOR?
