Fresh & Fun | Project 365

< BACK

Well, I have been going strong on my 365 via my iPhone, but have definitely gotten behind with grabbing my camera and taking a picture every day. I rented two killer lenses.  If you know the lingo, it was a 85mm 1.2L and a 35mm 1.4L.  I don’t think I’ve ever held anything that felt so powerful!  After I returned them, I sort of was in a rut having to shoot with my little 50mm 1.8.  My husband has heard me say “I nnneeeeddd the 35mm” every day.  Honestly, he believes in me so much he probably would buy it for me…if we had the extra cash. 🙂

Come on, mommas!  Documenting your bundles arrivals feeds my passion for photography emotionally and practically!  Haha.

So, I have two different things for you all.  First one of the only shots I took for my real 365.  It was 11pm and I played around with high iso, cranking it to H1.  Anyone even know what iso that is?  (Off to find my manual). Ah, 12,800!  Wowsa!

I did soften the background a bit in pp, but really didn’t touch much with the noise after that.  I am amazed at how well the Mark ii handles high iso when I actually nail white balance in camera.  Duh!  This is all thanks to the Expodisc that HAS CHANGED MY LIFE.  No, seriously.  Goodbye Kelvin!

Noooowwww, how about something totally left field.  If this is your first time here, you may be thinking, “where’s the births??”  They are here!  If you go to my PORTFOLIO, you can view some of my most recent births.  Remember, I rented these lenses. My main subjects were the Unger family, seen HERE, but I had these babies all weekend.  I asked three gorgeous gals to come downtown with me for a fun, relaxed session.  There was definitely a learning curve in holding these 50 lb things and nailing focus, especially when I attempted to shoot wide open.  I had to keep reminding myself, “Just because it opens to 1.2 doesn’t mean you need to shoot at that”.  I am definitely renting them again!  In fact, if I can, I want to rent the 35mm for every birth I photograph from now on.  (all these were taken with the 85mm)

Thanks for indulging me, ladies!
