Roughly 10 years ago, I moved to York, England to attend a small college, Calvary Chapel Bible College. Among the 60 students where some people who I still regard as being so dear to me. And isn’t that just like college?? It is one of the most formidable times in our lives and easily creates strong bonds between strangers as we all experience and struggle through many of the same issues.
What I didn’t expect was, nearly 10 years later, end up adoring, working with and for, and sharing the same passion as a former student who I previously had little contact with! It took relationships, broken relationships, marriage, job changes, motherhood and photography to make us slightly different people than we were “back in the day”. Ok, I don’t know if that is what Tonie would say, but I feel very much like a completely different person…something I owe to the three small people who share my heart. <3 So, here we are. Both photographers. Both serving people with the gifts we have been given and closer for it. Closer than we ever were as aliens sharing the same living quarters.
When I transitioned over to weddings after building up a business shooting bellies, birth and babies, Tonie was so gracious to invite me up to Seattle to assist her with two different weddings! This girl -her knowledge and savvy girl-boss attitude- is someone you WANT to get close to, hoping anything will rub off. And these weddings were GORGEOUS! I mean, you could throw nearly anything at me and you win me with just “barn wedding” alone, but these happened to be filled with so much detail, beauty and two freaking awesome couples. It was such an honor to photograph their day and to be trusted by Tonie. <3
So, how about we get to a wedding, aye? Leslie and Kevin were married at the beautiful Dairyland (that is apart of Woodland Meadows Farm) in Snohomish, WA. It is this totally quirky, nothing cookie-cutter place filled with tiny surprises around every corner. Leslie’s sister and MOH is an event planner, so the decor, flowers, and overall timeline of the day did not disappoint. In fact, this wedding really stretched me creatively to capture more details that I typically would!
I hope you enjoy see the wedding from my perspective! Now, go look at Tonie’s blog post!
