This birth means so much to me personally. First, the momma, Amy, is a dear friend. Sometimes it can be hard to be volunerable abour those you are closest to, so it was a high honor to be welcomed into this birth. Second, the birth of Amy’s son was the very first birth I ever documented. Ever.
She trusted me at the very beginning and Levi’s birth is what propelled me into this amazing career.
It is humbling to come 360, and document my first repeat client. I am so proud of Amy for taking charge of her birth story and writing the birth she always wanted. Baby Aria Dale was born at home in the water. She looks just like her brother and was so quiet. She is sure to be a world-changer!
—Amy SANG Aria out with her mother singing with her. I have a distinct memory of looking over at the midwife, Pamela, and smiling as we all listened the Amy’s beautiful voice. What a way to birth a child!!
(For photographers, you can really see the variety one birth can give you. Amy began laboring in the middle of the night, with little light. Finally, as the sun came up, the whole house filled with warmth. I went from shooting ISO 4000, to bounce flash for the birth and finally, natural light. )
Welcome to the world, Aria Dale! I cannot wait to watch you grow up…and I may be plotting your future marriage to my son. 😉
Oh my goodness, Courtney, this is stunning! Your work always inspires me, but especially your birth photography. Beautiful!
Beautiful! What an incredible job you did , be proud, be very proud.
